This cable is the perfect solution for any amateur radio operator who enjoys the convenience of programming frequencies and other information into a hand-held transceiver. I had an older cable that worked as required on Windows XP, but it would not work with Windows 10 because of Prolific driver issues. BlueMax49ers’ cable avoids that problem because it uses the FTDI chip and driver.

Great cable for Baofeng and others
I bought this cable to replace two others obtained when I purchased chinese radios. The originals had the fake Prolific chip and worked only one time or not at all. I found that this cable also works with the MML triple band UV8-DR radio which is a physical clone of the Yaesu VX-8DR.

The KJ6ZWL Programming Cable Does Exactly What It Says!
I am running CHIRP on Linux Mint and this cable is fantastic! I initially had a problem having CHIRP recognize the USB port, but using the terminal in Linux and typing in a simple command, everything sailed along smoothly at that point and I was able to program 2 Baofeng UV5R’s in less than 10 minutes. I would highly recommend this cable to anyone using CHIRP programming software. Don’t leave the ham shack without it!

The cable you NEED
If you want to program your Baofeng, this cable will set you up for exactly that! Follow the instructions, including having the volume all the way up for transfers. Using CHIRP makes the programming easy and might require a bit of planning so you don’t have to download multiple times (it resets your radio to original settings- you’ll be hearing Chinese all over again). It sets up a database for the memory list that you can move around and save as needed. If you live in a large urban area, there will be bunches to choose from, so be ready for a LOT of testing. It will be worth it. Just buy this one; the cheap junk from overseas doesn’t work
