Expensive for what it is, more than RT cable. Did work after modding.
Had to use cutter to trim tab for it to fit. I question if tested on 9 R Plus. I did succeed in programming using free software.

After too many annoying problems with cables using Prolific drivers I bit the bullet and paid extra for a quality FTDI cable. Now I am programming with Chirp on my Mac. Installed the referenced Mac version of the driver and it worked first time, no hassles. Now to get the comm ports working on Windows 10 for a dual platform solution. I am a happy camper now. This cable is of very high quality. Cheaper cables with the programming disc are garbage. I know that now. When I used to program with those cheap cables I would have to plug in and unplug the usb so many times or it wouldn’t work and the darn things would start transmitting out on the frequency my radio is on! No programming disc required for this excellent cable though. It worked right away and gave a good connection without issues. I would recommend this to anyone programming Kenwood radios. It is worth the money to get great quality.

Get the good stuff the first time and save yourself frustration
Glad I bought the “good stuff”. There are many sad stories of folks buying the cheap offerings and being frustrated that they don’t work. These cables have worked every time the first time I have used them.
The only USB KPG-22 cable that works.
I’ve bought 3 programming cables over the years and each newer version of Windows causes the cheap USB drivers not to work at some point – they become unsupported. This cable’s USB chip set is supported (actively) and works with the Kenwood software, CHIRP, and TYT software. It works on the Kenwood HT’s, Baofeng, and TYT.
